ABOUT

Farming On Main Street is a 316 Production that tells the story of Main Street Farms based in Homer, New York. Founder Allan Gandelman came up with the idea after being disappointed with the quality of food served during lunch in the school cafeteria. After quitting his job as a social studies teacher and teaming up with his college friend Bob Cat, they both invested in an aquaponics agricultural system to grow and cultivate year-round produce and educate the local community. Since their first year in 2011, Allan and Bob have expanded their business outside of aquaponics by purchasing more land property and farming in high tunnels and greenhouses. Main Street Farms supplies food for local schools, small grocery stores, restaurants, the Syracuse Regional Market and their CSA members all over Central New York.
